Uh what? I'll have nightmares even thinking how my monk would be getting blind invites from every single jerk across all the continents if this were the case. Not to mention that party searchin windows would easily become tens of pages long.

This is a great feature but it's currently caught in a vicious circle of "no one uses it"

The Only way to compliment the system is having a central Market island and a PUG formation area..... then the system will be at its best

I like it, its helpful to find more rarer items. I once wanted to get 2 Victo's Mauls ASAP for my Bunny Thumper heroes. Saw the price was around 2-3k on Guru, checked the forums and auction pages for it but the sellers were offline and crap like that.

Zoned to LA, took one look at the party chat and saw "WTS VICTO'S MAUL 3k" along with another offer above.

How pleasant and convenient

I really wish we could just drag & drop what we want to sell into a mock trade window within this sytem, let the system display the 'title' of the item(s) (such as a Furious War Axe of Fortitude...or 5 Globs of Ectoplasm) and when someone hovers over it, it actually shows how it would as if it were in their own inventory (including the inventory icon so people can somewhat see it).
Then, all you do is enter a price for it.

Sorta like taking a snapshot of it and showing it to everyone. You wouldn't even have to type a description for it. To minimize the abusive spam and clutter here, make it so the item must be in inventory, only one advertisement per item, and the character must be in a town/outpost (no advertising with the trade feature while in a private instance).

That sounds really great.
Personally I haven't used the trading system a lot but I could see how useful it would be in high merchant places like droks/LA.
Must give it a go soon...

My intent for starting this thread was that Anet would tell us if this was the promised "improved trading system" or not?
It just seems like this is more of an add-on to the party search system rather than a fully functional trading system (like what you suggest in the quote from AnnaCloud9).

Are you done, are there improvements on the way to this system, or a completely new system???

Since Gaile has posted a thread on this forum regarding the senior gamer while this thread was close to the top - I take it she is ignoring this post (which has over 1,000 views).

Another civil, honest and straight forward question goes unanswered....

Imagine a Trade House (or Trade window) where you put your items, and just close the game, go to beach, and when you return, your items are sold and the money in your inventory Easier for the buyer, easier for the seller, and good for ArenaNet servers not overloaded of people trading all day; ArenaNet could save thousands of dollars, real dollars, not in-game gold and less overall server lag and PC performance lag in towns.

QFT the trade element needs MORE chars to allow for a decent item decription OR maybe a way to click on item to have its stats added to the text saving all that typing

Ok, a solution:

A new window, labeled Trade Window. You can use the drag and drop method as stated above. Along with this, you can have tabs for buying and selling, and then sub-lists of wands, off-hands, greens etc. Also a mats tab. This would make everything alot easier and faster, and you would just go to the item you want, and bid. Also it could be continent wide, and maybe even world wide, or you can specify(sp). It would be used because it'd have a wider user bse than trade chat, and because you can leave your ad on it, and go and adventure or PvP.

The ability to use the Party Search panel for trade is, largely, a happy coincidence. Some players expressed their worry that the panel would be filled with trade instead of party search, some others followed that by pointing out how this could be a good thing ... and thus it happened. A very late addition, but it's there, it's an improvement and it appears to work.

That being said, the design team is always going to be receptive to well thought out and well presented suggestions for further improvements. There are several good thoughts in this thread, about categorisation, ease of communicating what you need to communicate and more.

that is my guild wars dream! I really don't sell much but have built up over 50k worth of upgrades since NF came out that i just can't sell! I refuse to spam in chat as i hate spammers and will not become one myself.... I also enjoy playing the game for too much to use the new trade feature (having to stay in an outpost all day long waiting for a buyer)

A NPC/trade window that would take the items off you, letting you name your price thats then available for other to look at is a perfect way to be able to sell things. They could hold the money till you come back later to collect it, hell i wouldn't even mind if they took a small piece of the pie

I think the best step in this is add the possibility to sell even with the game closed; The question is: How difficult is to implement the Trade House? I know sometimes is very difficult (some times impossible) implement things to games already coded without that (trade house) in mind; If this is not the case, I see no excuses for don't implement a so incredible popular feature.

Thanks for the response Alex!

While it doesn't directly answer the question on whether this is "the" intended trade improvement update or something you were able to put into the party search system fairly easily - I appreciate the response regardless.

Hopefully the trading system will go from strength to strength especially with constructive ideas and suggestions from the community.
